I invited some friends at the weekend for a little “homebar-warming-party“. Since they are really good people, everyone brought a nice bottle of some good stuff and we had a nice evening and some good drinks.
One of the bottles that “appeared“ in my bar later that night was a London Dry Gin called “OPIHR“ and it is actually pretty interesting.
Opihr is a legendary region in the Orient along the ancient Spice Route which prospered during the reign of King Solomon. The Opihr Gin is crafted with a selection of exotic spices that could be found on the ancient Spice Route. It includes cubeb pepper from Indonesia, tellicherry black pepper from India and coriander from Morocco.
...so far so good, let's have a Gin&Tonic...
I chose Fentimans Tonic Water and ice with it. Actually to much for the Opihr Gin. With its 42,5% Vol. it doesn't have that much alcohol, so I might choose a lighter tonic the next time or try the recommended Red Snapper with it. Still a pretty good gin and some interesting flavors that actually tasted “oriental“.
Anyway, it's worth it to have this bottle in bar just because of its awesome look!
